COURSE ALIGNMENT AND ACCREDITATION
The Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) equals the 1st Academic Year of a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Degree and is focused on the development of a thorough understanding of business in its manifold aspects at a global level. Upon completion the student is awarded a Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) which forms part of the Integrated Qualification Framework (IQF).
The Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) can be completed within 9 to 12 months depending on the commitment and time allocation of the student.
A Grade 10/12 Certificate in combination with a as well as an Extended Diploma in Business Skills (EDip.Skill) or alternatively a Diploma in Administration (Dip.Admin) is a prerequisite to register for the Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man).
COURSE OUTCOME AND PROGRESSION
The Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) introduces the student to the exciting world of business management and is aimed to position him/her to not only compete but to excel at a global corporate or entrepreneurial level. Students who have completed the Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) may progress to the Higher Diploma in Management (HDip.Man) BA) which is aligned to Academic Year 2 of a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) or Integrated Master in Business Administration (MBA) Degree.
The Diploma in Business Management (Dip.Man) follows a generic curriculum as step-up towards the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) qualification and prepares the student to apply managerial functions within a broader international context. The curriculum consists of mandatory as well as optional modules which may be adjusted as a result of university curriculum adjustments and is mainly focused on the business and management environment relevant to the United Kingdom in preparation of completion of the BBA Degree or in the final instance the MBA Degree. In line with the required curriculum outcomes the student will inter alia cover the following topics either in Module or Unit format: Business Management, General Management, Business Environment in SA, Planning Function, Organising Function, Leading Function, Control Function, Operations Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Purchasing/Supply Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Creation and Corporate Social Responsibility. This is followed by a Capita Selecta and proctored examination.
